How does AI pricing work? (Understanding Tokens)

What are tokens? AI models process text in tokens (roughly 3-4 characters each). Both your input and the AI's output are measured in tokens and converted to credits.

Two factors determine your cost:

  1. Your input: The amount and length of documents you upload. This is predictable and based on what you provide.
  2. The AI's output: How much analysis the AI generates. This varies based on what the AI finds in your documents. A straightforward paper might yield a concise analysis; complex findings generate more detailed output.

We estimate costs based on your documents and settings, then add a 20% safety buffer so analysis doesn't pause mid-run. You're only charged for actual usage, typically about 20% less than the estimate.

Why is the estimated cost higher than actual cost?

Estimates include a 20% safety buffer so the analysis does not pause mid-run. You are charged only for actual usage, which is therefore typically about 20% less than the estimate. What is smart rollover?

Subscription unused credits roll over to the next month, capped by your subscription tier. Credits beyond the rollover cap are removed. This prevents waste while maintaining sustainable pricing. Higher-tier subscriptions have more generous rollover limits. Specific rollover percentages are shown on each plan.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my subscription?
